At Eleanor Health, we believe that celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ+ community is not limited to just one month of the year. Our commitment to inclusivity and creating a safe space extends throughout the year, both for our community members and for our team members. In 2022, we formed the Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG), whose focus rests on three key purposes:
“We will advocate and help create a safe space and culture for all individuals of the LGBTQ+ community for both Eleanor Health community members and team members.”
Our Pride ERG has advocated for Eleanor Health’s community members by making sure our technology reflects their preferred pronouns and their preferred names. We have also worked toward identifying LGBTQ+ liaisons in each of our markets, ensuring that there is a resource for anyone in the queer community who may seek our services. Also, in collaboration with the Head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging, we are collecting data surrounding Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) to learn how we can better serve our community members.
“We will promote the history of Pride Month and encourage members and team members to celebrate it. We will educate our team members about LGBTQ+ issues year-round.”
We believe awareness is an important tool in the fight against prejudice and bigotry. To support this, the Pride ERG has partnered with our Learning and Development team to establish research, onboarding presentations, and training, like Safe Zone, for our team members. We have also published monthly newsletters internally to keep LGBTQ+ individuals and allies alike up to date on the latest legislative issues that could be affecting their communities.
“We will support our LGBTQ+ staff, community members and allies through representation, creation of safe spaces and innovation to promote and advance equity, inclusion and belonging.”
To provide support to the LGBTQ+ community, the Pride ERG has launched a fundraiser, in collaboration with our Black Lives Matter Committee, to benefit Pride Community Center of Texas. We plan to expand on these efforts throughout the year to help small organizations in areas that face the most discrimination.
